The history of artificial teeth…
The history of artificial teeth counts millennia: in ancient civilizations, humans have made replacements for lost teeth with skillfully shaped and polished animal bones. Such “dentures” have been found in ancient Etruscan and Egyptian burials. Etruscans have also learned how to make dental bridges strong enough to allow a person to chew. In other cultures dentures were made from hard tortoise shell.
An interesting archeological artifact was found in South America: it was a jawbone of an ancient Inca with a full set (32) of artificial teeth made of Quartz and Amethyst.
