Post op instructions for the patients
Immediately after the surgery:
- It is not recommended to drive during the first 24 hours after the surgery.
- You should keep your head up, even in bed.
- Until the effects of anesthesia are over, in order to prevent traumas of the soft tissues of the mouth, of the gums and of the tongue, avoid chewing, or try to chew only on the side of mouth opposite to the one that has experienced the surgery.
- Take prescribed medicine strictly following your dentist’s instructions.
- Do not smoke and do not drink alcoholic beverages during 7 to 14 days, and avoid hot drinks during 1 or 2 days after the surgery.
- Avoid consuming hard, coarse foods and foods containing acids. After total recovery occurs 14 to 20 days after the surgery, you may eat consume any type of food and eat anything you want.
- Try to reduce physical efforts to minimum during 3 days after the surgery.
- While the implantation zone is still sensitive, try to avoid using a tooth brush in this area.
One week after the surgery
- You may brush your teeth as usual, although there are precautions to be taken: you should brush the affected area with extreme caution, using a soft brush and pay special attention to cleaning the gaps between your teeth.

- In the course of the follow up visit the dentist will assess how well the healing process is going. You should immediately consult your dentist if you start experiencing side effects (such as swelling, bleeding, pain, side effects from anesthesia etc).
