Implant placement procedure

In comparison with the preliminary stages of the treatment – comprehensive examination and diagnostics – the implant placement by itself is a quick procedure.

With right preliminary procedures and diagnostics, and the surgical proficiency of the dentist, surgery-related risks are minimal. In comparison with a wisdom tooth extraction, implant placement is less risky and entails less complications.

Usually implantation is performed as an outpatient procedure under local or general anesthesia as to the preference of the patient.

The major steps of the implantation procedure are as follows. First an incision is made in the gum, in order to prepare the site for implant placement, and the ridge of the bone is exposed. After the implant has been placed, the gum is sutured back.


The time required to perform the implantation depends on them complexity of the surgery and the number of implants to be placed.
